Tara Parker, J.d.

Tara Parker joined our Board of Directors in June 2009, bringing with her a background in law and social services. Tara spent her career as an advocate and now harnesses that expertise by advocating on behalf of children and families as Chair of our Public Policy Committee. She now enjoys advocating on behalf of Family Support Professionals and to convince elected officials and potential funders of their paramount duty to support children and families.

After graduating from Western Washington University, Tara worked with at-risk children at Catholic Community Services in Bellingham, Ryther Child Center in Seattle, and as a Guardian ad Litem for the King County Superior Court. She later earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and subsequently worked for the Washington State Court of Appeals and in private practice.

Now, with the birth of her daughter in January 2009, Tara's commitment to the interests of children and families is stronger than ever. As she puts it, “Becoming a parent has made it abundantly clear to me that raising children is very challenging under even the best of circumstances. Our community depends upon all of us reaching out with support to so all parents can be the kinds of parents they want to be.”
